I bought a Knapp deck on Ebay yesterday which appears to be the 1929 edition.. but it has a couple of differences from other pictures I've seen.
-It comes in a two part blue box, like others, but instead of the gold titles, it appears to have an image of the cardback stuck on.
-The corners are rounded rather than square. (it seems possible that they have been worn down, because the deck is quite beat-up and many of the edges look kind of frayed.. but they are very round so I don't know.) The card on the outside of the box is squared on the corners.
-It has the blue J. A. Knapp copyright on the card faces
Yep. I've been watching that and wondering who would grab it. Congratulations!
I have the same, in excellent condition actually.
Comes with a lwb by Manley Hall copyright 1929. Same box. The other side of the outer slipcase (reverse of the side with the card pasted on) has light gold lettering including copyright of 1929. My card corners are square like Sumada's. I suspect yours were rounded, not just worn down--it seems like just too much to be from wear.
I am quite excited to receive these cards, and glad to know that your box is the same and has the title on the back.
I think the LWB is missing from my copy, since it was not mentioned in the auction or shown in the photographs. :(
You are probably right about the corners, though it seems strange to me that someone would cut them. Although I suppose it might seem strange to some folks that I've trimmed borders off some of my decks.
