I don't have the Hochman or Jensen books, but I have compared this design with earlier ones - the Spiel der Hoffnung (1798) and one almost identical to the Hoffnung cards that is from 1846 and named a Lenormand deck (possibly the first one). Clearly the deck that you and I have was redrawn with minor changes in most cases, but that are a few more significant changes (the Tower, for instance). Our decks appear to be identical except that mine has the light pink and blue sky/background. As mine was found in the US the dealer thought it might be US made, but until we find this style with a label, I'm afraid we won't have any specifics.Last edited on Sat Jun 9th, 2012 04:41 pm by teheuti
