Maybe it does go back to "intention."  I have a completely different response to the Aubrey Beardsley tarot, for example.  Why? Because it shows more care and effort, and because I have a sense of the intention of the person who did it and an affinity for that intention--it does seem intended as a genuine tribute. 

Consistency is a virtue (on those "what tarot card are you? quizzes I'm always Justice) but heck. 
Well in fairness to everyone around here, Jason Lang is passionate about art and so is his partner.....
