I've just discovered this artistic new deck inspired by Mesopotamian and Canaanite mythology on Kickstarter and couldn't resist becoming a backer.

I love the very hands-on video showing how the artist Martin Katzoff creates his copper-plate etchings and then hand-prints them.

Here's a link to his campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/solardeck/the-solar-deck/description

For large images of the tarot and other prints, here's his website: https://www.martinkatzoff.com

Here's a screen shot of his Strength card (I hope he doesn't mind):

Good to see that there's another backer since yesterday and someone who's gone for the "Solar Explorer" option with the 5 secret bonus Minor Arcana cards. If it's someone from here, I hope they post those ... would very much like to see what they're like. Fingers crossed that Martin's campaign is successful!

I'm sad to say that I can't afford KS from outside Europe any more. It's not the decks - you usually get a good deal - it's the fees (particularly the flat £8 from the post office for collecting the VAT) to receive them in the UK that basically double the price. I DID like the KS creator who doesn't put a value on, nor does she call them goods. She reckons that you didn't BUY anything; you gave money to support an artist, and the deck is a thanks for doing that. It was the only one in ages (from the US) that had no fees attached.

I know exactly what you mean, gregory. I pay a small fortune here on import duties. Unfortunately, I'm a horrible impulse buyer ... I'd completely forgotten (yet again) about that issue. Ulp!! :f:f

I have the same problem for Italy,22% more on the claimed value plus other money for checking and they want the invoice too,so they stopped package for 15 days.
we should write to the artist and explain the situation ,asking to ship by registered post claiming a right value for every european country(for Italy is about 18-20$)

It would make no difference here. They probably do charge the correct VAT and import fees, in the UK at least. They have only ever charged me on the declared value (though in the UK they also charge it all on postage and packing !!) - but then the post office slaps on an extra £8 for collecting the money.

Good to see that Martin now has 45 backers ... not many more needed for the project to succeed and 21 days to go.

And it didn't take too much longer to meet the goal. I have grown more intrigued and excited about this project since first noticing it. I'm glad it's been funded.
