I just received Patrick Valenza's Trionfi della Luna Paradoxical (classic) 333 deck and I'm thrilled.

Patrick Valenza's original Deviant Moon Tarot deck is well known to many if not all in the Tarot community , although I must admit that when it made it's debut I couldn't reconcile myself to the quirky style of his artwork. I just said "it's not my style, not for me".

It wasn't until I received the Trionfi and previewed the additional cards that were included that I realized what I had been missing out on.

The extras comprised 3 variants of the Trionfi Paradoxical Star, Judgment and Devil cards as well as a samples of his oracle cards, a sample card of the his borderless 9 of Coins from the Deviant Moon Tarot and a 9 of Coins card from his original Trionfi.

There will be a 2nd edition of his original Trionfi due in 2019 and they can be pre-ordered from his website.

His Oracle will be published by US Games in 2019.

I must admit that aside from the artwork in the Trionfi Paradoxical it was the overall treatment of the color palette that intrigued me, the creation of images producing an effect like film negatives that drew me in.

Now that I see his work in person, I have a whole new perspective on his artistic approach and vision.

I'm late to the game but better late than never. :ro

Mining the places where others fear to tread - his marketing skills are as brilliant as his art. So much comic darkness - creating in that style might drive a soul less strong into an asylum, were they still around.

I remember the graveyard dirt in little bottles - it could all have gone terribly wrong, but he has just the right touch/tone.

the dark satirical quality of his work was elusive to me at first and I find it ironic that I had to see the "film negatives" like imagery of his work before recognizing his genius.; a matter of seeing his art in a "different light" so to speak.

Yes his marketing approach walks a fine line but he has apparently pulled it off. I suspect it's that satirical tongue in cheek quality that is the glue that binds it all together and also keeps it from being viewed as a cliché.
Overall the ambience and presentation is playful and fun and compelling enough for a mainstream audience as well; quite brilliant indeed.

the website states that he's considering a Paradoxical edition of Oracle in the "first wave", that would be a huge plus for me. :D
