Following my last 22 series "Major Arcana Revisited" in 2014, I am now more than halfway through painting a new, very different series, which seems to be calling itself "Postcards From Arcanasia".
While the underlying structure of the Majors of the Tarot de Marseille are still the foundation for this project, the superposition of colors and methods are very different from the last series. The paintings are on mounted stretched canvases, 50x70 cm, using gesso, acrylic medium, pigments and varnish. Each arcane takes about 50-60 hours.
I have decided to try to sell the finished paintings from this series in order to fund the future edition and production of a printed deck. Details of sales are all on my website, below - the price of each painting is fixed at 290 euros (all-included - packaging, shipment, tracking and insurance) - but for lovely collectors like you I can divulge the secret discount code which saves 22% - the code is arcanasia22 . If anybody's tempted by more than one of the paintings, I will happily consider offers. Reproductions of the whole new series will be available by October (I hope) - and any collector who has invested in the original work will receive any future derived products for free !
Here are the "3 celestial bodies" : The Star, The Sun and The Moon. This series is conceived as a reconfigurable cycle of narrative tableaux. I have chosen not to include any lettering or numbers on the images, to shift the focus on to the visual language of form and color. The wider margins have permitted me to explore a sort of imaginative, figurative back-drop to the characters and scenarios, and attempt to situate them in this parallel world "Arcanasia" ...
As well as the unique, original paintings from this series, new pocket editions of my first two outings in Tarot art: "Tarot del Boig" and "Major Arcana Revisited" are also available (the above discount code also works for these).
Please be most welcome to peruse more of this series, and previous tarot art work on my site - I'd love to hear any constructive criticism !
