What size, card stock, and price please?
And are they boxed, is there a LWB?
Questions, questions...

Thanks - I didn't notice that. Silly me...

OK. Looks nice. May I be so bold as to ask for a high(er) res image of one card please?

Also, is that a cream coloured card stock I'm seeing, or just my old monitor? And how thick is the deck too please - gives me an idea of the weight of the card stock.

Sorry to be such a pedantic old bugger... :-)

I haven't seen the actual deck but if you want to ask someone about the quality of the card stock, which for the Lenormand decks is very good -- better than most commercial publishers.

If you have a facebook account or know someone who does, you can
go to this facebook group and ask people what they think.

Very excited, spyder, thank you so much for doing this one. It has been under heavy discussion recently as we root around looking for one of the few extant color Dusserre versions. While I will keep looking for a Dusserre, I would like one that I can use the heck out of, for study and reading practice. This is beautiful all on its own.

And you are quite right~ if we want this deck, we already know how to read the cards. Although I must say, Papus is different. We can get that information in works easily available, I think. I will go check my Tarot of the Bohemians and see what is in it.

I am wondering if our mutual friend CM asked for this project? I hope so. Interest is hot, and I will freely distribute your link, also so that people can see the Daveluy and Le Fanu's Lilac.

If you are not LF, please forgive my error. In any case, thank you!

Yes, it is I. And it was not CM who asked for these cards, although the request did com through Google translator which provides entertaining communication. I am merely the artist who makes these things and am not equipped to write a LWB to accompany them.

If the Dusserre version is the same but with color, that may be a project for the future.

Oh, I am not asking you for a LWB!

Yes, the Dusserre is the color version. That would be great if you feel motivated some day.

However, this version is beautiful and looks very well done indeed, as with all your other work.

Thanks for responding.

Looks like a great facsimile but $62 is a bit out of my budget. Good luck and hope all buyers enjoy!

About the price, if you consider that this is an indie endeavor, there are 78 cards, the quality is superb and it takes a lot of time and work, the market is extremely limited and the cards are expensive to produce, it's a heck of a deal.

I agree. And we are very fortunate that you are motivated to do these decks which are nearly impossible to find~ all of them in your series of antique reproductions.

The Papus deck has arrived already, and it's pretty darn good too! :ro

Cards measure 70x120mm on smooth stock with a light-buff, mottled antique look, which shuffles well, and is presented in a nice gold satin bag.

If the scans spyder worked from are anything like my old book, a huge amount of work has gone into resizing, squaring and generally tidying up the cards. For example, the central images on the trumps were originally all different sizes! and most of the border lines were of differing weights, not parallel and/or wiggly, especially the pips.
But that's all fixed now, and results in a deck with a very uniform appearance without losing any of its old world charm IMHO.

Wonderful news. I was just this second on her site looking at these again. I have also been following her lovely FB page, full of images and updates, and wondering about the potential of a color version. She said she was canvassing for level of interest in a color deck.

Beautiful copy of Papus deck,i have the Dussere edition coloured but i have to tell that i prefer this one. There is someone of this Forum who knows if with the old edition Papus 1909 has been published a deck, separately from the book, not cutted out from book but just published together?

Mary Greer implies that a deck was published first in her Tarot time line - the most recent version of which is in the recent Tarot in Culture compilation.
Also, Karen Mahoney said she would send me pics of her early deck when the Alice Tarot workload subsides. Although her's might be cut from the book

I have to say that never saw this deck and haven't first edition 1909 of the book and know nobody who saw the deck or has got the book. It's a mystery.Guido Gillabel says that probably someone has cutted cards from the planches ,but for other decks this has happened till we haven't seen deck,as for example Daytyanus 1930 i believe or jeu de princesse i believe 1850,so i believe possible that deck exists.Nobody of us in this Forum has ever seen itor known that someone has?

If anyone finds a name, date, publisher on an original or extremely early full deck of these, please post here. Mary Greer's cards are the most beautiful I have seen, and I have scans. They are superb. If I could get my hands on a copy of this deck, I would sell all of your mothers into slavery. tee hee

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Mary's deck just a Dusserre?

Well, if by "just a Dusserre" you mean just one of the nearly-impossible-to -find deck versions which is not a revisioned modern, then yes. Bolaris has me on his wish list for the blue box, but no one thinks I will get one of those, or a Dusserre either, for that matter. Tell me how you view the progression, Sumada. I thought it was 1) color plates in the book, 2) the blue box full deck, 3) the Dusserre. Is that how you understand it?

I am not aware of any colour printings of the book. I believe the coloured images we have seen in a book were hand coloured by the present or previous owner. The reverse side of each image in my 3rd and 5th ed. of Le Tarot Divinatoire are blank, making them perfect to colour in, if not actually cut out and stick on card.
What is the " blue box full deck " please? I know Dusserre have two different styles of packaging for this deck. Maybe the one I haven't got comes in blue. Further more I dont know of any Majors only version so why does one need a " full deck " description at all?

Oh, I guess I thought that Papus had put it out in Majors and in another publication as the rest of the deck. This is the trouble with not having the full archive to refer to~ one must infer, and accurately remember things read in a wide variety of correct and incorrect sources. In this case, there is confusion and questioning even among those intent upon learning about this little corner of the Tarot history world. I will look for the blue box photo and see if I can upload the image here. It shows up in a google image search of Papus Le Tarot Divinatoire.
