Gosh sorry to come back on here and drag out the same question !!!
I got my Rider Waite c 1960 or thereabouts of ebay, i checked to see no copyright or all the usual things etc before buying..however I dont have that much knowledge on these things so I'm really not sure if I've picked a lemon or not!
The cards are very thin compared to the mass produced RW with the copyright on you get now..The thiness of the card worys me the most as I'm presumeing the older ones would have been better made thus thicker card? The back design is pink with a pink egyptian ank on it, The box has a picture of the fool on it...which is apt if I've been played for one !!!

The pink ankh backs are University Press from the 1970's.

I just want to say also that I personally don't consider tarot cards to be any kind of investment.

Thanks Debra Holly's site is awesome isn't it! Many thanks for responding and takeing the time to put the link. Yes I agree they're no investment apart from a few I would imagine,I bought because I just loved the vibrant colours of the old RW its like a lot of art work back then it was printed in a certain way which produced great colour and images they can't do it now as many of the tools and inks that were used simply aren't produced etc.

MY Main concern was THE THINNESS of these cards you can see daylight through almost when you hold up to the light wasn't sure if this was common with cards from that era ? Or if there not genuine

For anyone reading this link I have since found out that the university press edition of RW the card stock is apparantly thin and they are poor compared to most etc the university press ones are usually pre 1970 or around 1960
